Armenian soldiers surender voluntarily as protest to unbearable situation in Armenian army
The two Armenian soldiers surendered to Azerbaijani army as protest to unbearable situation in Armenian army.

The Armenian soldiers were drafted for military service from Yerevan and they served in the Armenian army only for ten days, Trend News correspondent quoted well-informed source as saying.

According to unofficial reports, Armenian soldiers were voluntarily captured near Gulustan village of Goranboy region on May 31.

State Commission on Hostages, POWs and Missing People is aware of capture of two Armenian soldiers by Azerbaijani army.

Though the commission is aware of capture of Armenian military men, identity and the conditions in which the soldiers were captures remains unknown yet, commission's Head Shain Sailov said. He said an investigation is underway on this issue.

Sailov said Armenia does not officially confirm capture of its soldiers.

The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said on June 1 that an official statement on this issue will be made public today.

At the invitation of editor-in-chief of Zaman-Azerbaijan newspaper Enes Cansever, representatives of Turkish media arrived in Azerbaijan on the occasion of the 17th anniversary of Khojaly tragedy.

APA’s west bureau reports that on the initiative of parliamentarian Ganira Pashayeva the delegation has today visited border villages of Tovuz region. The guests visited Martyrs’ Alley in the center of the region and Hajalli and Aghdam villages of Tovuz bordering on Armenia. They were told that Armenia often violated ceasefire, posed threat to civilians, schools and houses and burned the cemetery and sacred places.

Correspondent of Aksiyon magazine Tunjar Chetin shared his impressions with APA. He also took a stance on the reports that Turkey would open borders with Armenia.
“Turkey should not open borders with Armenia unless Nagorno Karabakh conflict is solved. Turkey should always support Azerbaijan on this issue. We met with the people who live in constant danger. I saw the view of Armenians’ savageries against civilians in Azerbaijan. We will inform Turkish public about it. Opening of borders should not be discussed unless these horrors end,” he said.

Later the guests came to Ganja. They met with teachers and pupils of Ganja Private Turkish Lyceum and viewed the museum in connection with Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.

The delegation includes correspondents of Zaman, Kanal 7, Yeni Shafak, Aksiyon, Bu gun and Star.

“All the historical monuments have been restored, theaters repaired in Azerbaijan. We will continue this policy.

But we can not fully protect our historical heritage due to the occupation of Azerbaijani lands by Armenia,” Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said at the solemn opening ceremony of Culture Year “Baku – the Capital of Islamic Culture - 2009”, APA reports. The head of state said 20 percent of Azerbaijani territories were still under occupation and underlined that over one million people had been internally displaced. The president said all the historical monuments, museums, mosques in the occupied territories had been destroyed by Armenians.
“International observers also underline it. In 2005, OSCE fact-finding mission wrote in the report prepared basing on the outcomes of the visit to Nagorno Karabakh and other occupied lands that Armenia had destroyed everything. This is the result of Armenian vandalism, this is Armenia’s aggressive policy. We will surely restore all our historical monuments after our territories are liberated. We will rebuild all towns and buildings. But in order to do this, Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict should end, Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity should be restored and our citizens should return to their native lands,” he said.

ISESCO Secretary-General Abdulaziz bin Osman Al Twaijri also touched on Nagorno Karabakh conflict and wished liberation of the occupied Azerbaijani territories.

We are sharing the official position of Azerbaijan and are staying behind this position up to date. Azerbaijan’s fairness in the Karabakh issue is clear and it was described in the UN resolution too”.

Radio Liberty’s Armenian service reported about the Turkey’s retracting of its term concerning Nagorno Karabakh for normalization of its relations with Armenia.
