Hackers led by Azerbaijani steal over $5,000,000 from Turkish banking accounts |

A criminal hacker network, lead by Azerbaijani lawyer Nijat Kerimov, was detained in Turkey for withdrawing over $5,000,000 from 2,000 banking accounts via Internet. According to APA, after a number of organizations and private enterprises appealed to policy due to the disappearance of definite amounts from their accounts, the law enforcement bodies undertook the case. An operation under conditional name "Carnaval" which resulted in detainment of Kerimov and 67 people was carried out after 6 months study of the issue. 29 detained were freed following the testimonies.

Forum of Azerbaijani Students in Europe to get financial assistance from Azerbaijan |

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed an executive decree to finance Forum of Azerbaijani Students in Europe (FASE), the President’s Press Service told APA. The decree envisions financial assistance to FASE for implementation of organizational and social events in 2008 to bring them together and support their Diaspora. |

Armenian armed forces violate ceasefire in six regions |

Armenian armed forces locating in the occupied lands of Azerbaijan violated ceasefire on April 10 and 11 again. According to the press service for the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan, the Armenian armed forces fired at the positions of the Azerbaijani armed forces locating just opposite their posts near Horadiz, Ashaghi Veyselli and Ashaghi Abdulrahmanly villages and from a nameless height of Fizuli, near Chileburt and Gyzyl Oba villages of Terter, Kuropatkino village and a nameless height in Khojavend, Tagibeyli village of Aghdam. |

Azerbaijan, Netherlands to develop employment program for disabled |

Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Azerbaijan and Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment of the Netherlands will jointly develop an employment program for the disabled in Azerbaijan.
Elnur Sultanov, International Cooperation Officer of Azerbaijan’s Ministry, said the ministry will initially set the priorities and schedule of the program that envisions integration of the disabled with the society.
The draft program will then be forwarded to Dutch ministry.
The parties will discuss ways of implementation of the program. |

Azerbaijan outstrips Russia, Armenia and Georgia by use of information technologies |

The World Economic Forum has worked out a regular yearly report Global Information Technology Report 2007-2008, which fixes the countries, which use information technology. Day.Az reports with reference to www.weforum.org that Azerbaijan took the 67th place. The first ten countries were Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, United States, Singapore, Finland, Netherlands, Iceland, South Korea and Norway.
Armenia took the 106th place, Georgia 91st and Russia 72nd place.
The last ten included Cameroon, Nepal, Paraguay, Mozambique, Lesotho, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Burundi and Chad. It should be noted that Global Information Technology Report assesses the countries by such criteria, as level of mathematical knowledge of students and pupils, cost of telephone and computer connection, level of state policy in the sphere of information technologies and others. |
