Azerbaijani dies of torture in Iranian prison PDF Print E-mail

Activist of the movement for rights of South Azerbaijanism, 25 year old Farhad Rehim oghlu Movsini died of torture by Iranian ETTELAAT, reports a source from the South Azerbaijan Independence Party.


Thus, Farhad Movsini's body was found in Elgel park in Tebriz. Iranian special services prohibited the activist's family to speak of it.

The source noted that Movsini died of tortures in the Tebriz prison, controlled by Ettelaat security service.

As is noted, the activist of the movement for rights of Iranian Azerbaijanis Movsini was detained and carried away by Ettelaat officers before an action on the anniversary of bloody events of 2006.

Nothing was known about his whereabouts. The activist's parents have appealed to the state bodies regarding Movsini's search, but the search was not fruitless.

Activist of movement for rights of South Azerbaijanis arrested in Iran PDF Print E-mail

Activist of movement for rights of South Azerbaijanis Asker Akperzade was arrested by Ettelaat officers in Ardebil on June 10, said a source from the South Azerbaijan Independence Party. According to the source, the activist was detained in his house and carried to isolation ward, controlled by Ettelaat officers. A computer, camera, disks and different books were confiscated during the search.

Student of the chemistry faculty of the Ardebil university Asker Akperzade has been repeatedly arrested for participation in actions against the Iranian regime. Currently Akperzade is in the isolation ward and is subjected to torture.

It should be noted that in 2006 and 2007 the International conference on amnesty demanded the immediate release of Akperzade from the Iranian authorities.

About 500 Azerbaijani employees of foreign Caspian Shipping Company have initiated a strike, says Azadlyg radio.
The strikers demand raising wages to the level of foreign citizens', working in this company.

"We can take vacation only for 21 days and foreigners for 40 days", say the strikers.

The strike participants have handed the list of their demands to the company management. They also voiced intention to create a trade union.

The strikers also complain about their maltreatment by foreign contractors.

A source from the Caspian Shipping told Azadlyg radio that the management is currently holding a session, after which it will express its opinion on the said issue.

It should be noted that the said company specializes in the sphere of oil and gas industry.

Reports spread again that forward of Turkish champion Galatasaray club Hakan Shukur will be transferred to Khazar-Lanakaran.

 Turkey’s Zaman newspaper has published an article about it. The article says that Hakan Shukur rejected the proposal of Galatasaray president Adnan Polat on signing 5-year contract and decided to play in Azerbaijan. The leadership of Khazar-Lankaran is ready to pay €3mln. to 37-year-old footballer. “Hakan Shukur accepted the proposal from Azerbaijan. His wife is also satisfied with this decision. Now the footballer is determining the place, where he will live in Azerbaijan, and the school for his children,” he said.
The newspaper writes Hakan Shukur always says that he wants to help the development of football in the Turkish-speaking countries. So, the veteran forward will be able to realize his wish thanks to offer of Khazar-Lankaran. Hakan Shukur reportedly said: “I believe that we will raise the level of Azerbaijani football to the European standards.”
Khazar-Lankaran oficially announced that they were interested in Hakan Shukur on May 30 this year. The footballer, who became Turkish champion in Galatasaray in 2007/08, is a free agent now.
