President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has offered Queen`s day greetings to queen regnant of the Netherlands Beatrix.
In a congratulatory letter, the Azerbaijani leader expressed hope that Azerbaijan-Netherlands relations will continue developing and enhancing. The President of Azerbaijan wished for Queen Beatrix strong health and success, as well as peace and prosperity of the people of the Netherlands. |

On April 28 of this year three officers of Ettelaat department in Tebriz detained one of the activists of the movement for rights of Iranian Azerbaijanis-Amirabbas Banai Kazimi. The due announcement was made by a source from the South Azerbaijan Independence Party. The source noted that during the questioning the officials of Iranian special services tried to learn about the works, carried out in connection with the second anniversary of May 22 events. "They warned our compatriot and announced that his actions are under control and he will be strictly punished in case of holding any action", said the source. The source announced that on April 24 the Ettelaat officers came to his flat to arrest Amirabbas Banai Kazimi but failed as he was not in. It should be noted that he was imprisoned for 6 months in 2007. During the arrest he was tortured, losing several teeth. |

Armenian Special Forces trying to commit diversion in Azerbaijan arrested |

The Azeri media’s reports that the Azeri armed forces captured an Armenian subversive group do not correspond to the truth, said RA Defense Minister’s Spokesman, colonel Seyran Shahsuvaryan. “Actually, four Armenian citizens – Vanik Chmboyan from Gavar, Artem Zohrabyan, Karen Torosyan and Aghasi Yenokyan from Noragyugh village - went to the village of Khachik to meet a friend. Coming back, they lost their way finding themselves in Nakhijevan,” he said. “Presently, all four are kept in the Azeri National Security Service cell in Azerbaijan. The Armenian side addressed to the International Red Cross Office in Baku for assistance to transfer the captives back to Armenia,” colonel Shahsuvaryan said, according to PanARMENIAN.Net.

Officers of Iranian intelligence services rape three Azerbaijani girls in Tebriz |

Students of the Sahand Technical University in Tebriz have gone on hunger strike protesting against sexual harassment of Azerbaijani girls by officers of Ettelaat Harasat (Security) department.
Three students of the said university fell victims of sexual harrassment by the officers of the department.
The due announcement was made by a source from the South Azerbaijan Independence Party.
Initially, only girls went on hunger strike but later boys also joined them. A number of girls, who went on hunger strike, were brought to hospital due to physical weakness.
The source noted that students demand to dismiss head of the university Mamedrza Chanaglu and chief of Hasarat department Huseyn and stop pressure put on the Azerbaijani students of this university.
"Despite it, the university administration ignores their protests and threatens with expulsion. They intend to hold the action until their demands are fulfilled", said the source.

The due response was made by Valeh Hajiyev, first deputy chairman of the State Committee for work with Azerbaijanis, residing abroad, to a request to comment on the raping of three students of Technical university Sahand in Tebriz by officers of Ettelaat Harasat (Security) department.

Anar Hatamov, an economics professor visiting South Dakota State University from Azerbaijan through a program sponsored by the United States Department of State, will speak May 5 at noon in Cooper Room B of the Brookings Public Library, according to the website of the South Dakota State University.His talk, "Azerbaijan Today," is sponsored by the South Dakota Council on World Affairs and is free and open to the public. Hatamov will provide information on the history, culture and economy of Azerbaijan, as well asthe achievements and reforms conducted in the country. Dr. Hatamov comes to SDSU from the Azerbaijan Agricultural Academy Department of Agrarian Economy and Foreign Economic Relations. His degrees are from the Azerbaijan Agricultural Academy. |
