Military parade held in Baku on the occasion of 90th anniversary of Azerbaijani Armed Forces PDF Print E-mail
     
 
 

Military parade has been held in Azadlig Square on the occasion of 90th anniversary of Azerbaijani Armed Forces, APA reports.

The parade started with Azerbaijani Defense Minister, Colonel General Safar Abiyev’s report to Azerbaijani President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of Azerbaijani Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev at 12.00. Moreover, Military Orchestra of Defense Ministry sounded national anthem and servicemen sang the national anthem. Afterwards, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev addressing the event spoke about measures had been taken in the army building recently. The President spoke about the successes achieved in the army building and stressed that expenses on defense sector had been increased per year.
Military units of Azerbaijani Armed Forces marched before the tribune. Armed military units dressing uniforms of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic’s Army, cadets of military education enterprises-Military College named after Nakhchivanski, Azerbaijan Supreme Military School named after H. Aliyev, Supreme Military Naval School and Supreme Military Flying School, soldiers of Army units, National Security Ministry, State Border Service, National Household Troops, Ministry for Emergency Situations Civil Defense troops, units of Interior Troops, marines, special appointed units marched before the tribune following Azerbaijani flag.
MIG and Su combat aircrafts and Mi-6, Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters of Azerbaijani Air Defense Forces made flights in Baku and drew state flag of Azerbaijan in the sky.
Pedestrians were followed by the equipment of the Armed Forces, pilotless vehicles, multiple artillery rocket system, infantry fighting vehicle, armoured transporters, air-defense missile systems and tanks. Ships also supported the parade.
4510 personnel, 210 modernized fighting equipment, 19 helicopters, 25 fighter jets, 31 vessels and launches have been involved in the parade.
This is the third military parade in the history of Azerbaijani Armed Forces. The first military parade was held in the territory, where Carpet Museum is situated now, on May 28, 1919, and the second parade in Azadlig square on October 9, 1992. Defense Minister, General Samadbay Mehmandarov presented the first parade and Rahim Gaziyev presented the second parade.
























 



























 

 
Armenians commence military exercises in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan PDF Print E-mail
Units of Armenian armed forces commenced large-scale military exercises in the territory of occupied Uzundara area of the Azerbaijan’s Agdam Region at about 09.00 on Friday.
Heavy artillery fires are clearly heard in the frontline villages, APA Karabakh bureau reports. The exercises are going on.
 
A new building of NATO international school inaugurated in Baku PDF Print E-mail
Inauguration of a new building of NATO international school of Azerbaijan (NISA) was held in Baku Tuesday. According to APA, NATO Assistant Secretary General for the Public Diplomacy Division Jean-Francois Bureau spoke at the opening ceremony about the importance of such kind of schools and urged to expand and to develop the activity of these schools. Jean-Francois Bureau said this school would provide the students with the opportunities to get wide information about the NATO and international processes in general.
NATO official said the alliance united the democratic countries which considered energy security, democracy, human rights, stability and development as the main values. The head of Azerbaijan’s Permanent Mission to NATO Kamil Khasiyev spoke about the history of NATO schools and the role of such institutions in the development of diplomacy. He said so far more than 400 students from Azerbaijan and other countries studied in the NATO school established in 2003. Khasiyev said the Government of Azerbaijan showed comprehensive assistance to NISA.
 
Armenians fire at Azerbaijani positions in Khojavend PDF Print E-mail
Armenian armed forces locating in the occupied lands of Azerbaijan violated ceasefire on June 24.
According to the press service for the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan, the Armenian armed forces fired at the positions of the Azerbaijan army locating just opposite their posts near Kuropatkino village of Khojavend.
The enemy used machine and submachine guns.
Armenians were stopped by response fire. No casualties were reported.
 
Killers of Azerbaijani protesters in Sulduz walks free from court PDF Print E-mail

May 2006 in Sulduz, several people were killed, many other wounded and many are still in prison. They had joined in mass protests against discrimination of Turks in Iran.

The incident happened because of the bloodshed created by direct command for shooting at protesters. The commander was Mohammad Aminfard, Sulduz’s governor.

Although there are recorded evidences about Mohammad Aminfard’s activities while ordering to shoot at peacefully protesters, judge Seyyed Hamidreza Hoseyni ordered his and his friends release after the appeal made 2 years ago by family of those who were shot dead was rejected. The criminals walk free from section 1059 of Tehran’s court while families of Azerbaijani activists were covered in tears.
