Chingiz Mustafayev died on June 15, following it, Day of National Salvation was announced in Azerbaijan. Short life, even death of Chingiz Mustafayev refuted opinions as patriotism "is no more fashionable". He returned the true meaning of the word "patriotism". Had we such youth more, who knows, we would not have lost Qarabaq…
We keep him in our memory as a reporter crying over dead bodies of Khojali children chopped into pieces by Armenian militants. These were the first shots taken by Chingiz at the site of bloody tragedy. They are the first shots going through the world and demonstrating barbarism of Armenian separatists. Very possible just then Chingiz Mustafayev engraved in the hearts and brains of millions of Azerbaijanis as National Hero of Azerbaijan. If Chingiz knew how short life was there left for him… No, he would not stay in the city where war was felt less, he would not change the dangerous profession – front-line reporter for a life of a successful and popular journalist, he would not rest on his laurels. With all his heart he strived for the front-line where fate of Qarabaq was in danger, where not only Azerbaijani soldiers were fighting for Motherland, but also civil women and children were taken to Armenian captivity and so slavery. If he knew… No doubt, he would again choose returning to front-line despite any danger! Risk of war was known to Chingiz Mustafayev, but he could not let himself keep aside of the ongoing events, unlike jingoes, who were busy with sharing power in Baku.
"Motherland" meant the same as "mother", ''life", ''family" for Chingiz Mustafayev. That is why Chingiz cried and called the soldiers to fight for Motherland, to fight to the last drop of blood. Chingiz is want of Azerbaijan. The day will come when we must fight for liberation of our lands. We shall need for tens, hundreds of Chingizs to lead the others to follow him – without fear and blame. There is something symbolic in coincidence of the two dates – Chingiz Mustafayev died on June 15, following it Day of National Salvation was announced in Azerbaijan. Chingiz Mustafayev died for this salvation day, and doubtless, he would do the same again if necessary. ANS Ch.M, Radio Station, Chingiz Mustafayev Foundation are named after the National Hero of Azerbaijan - Chingiz Mustafayev today. But we have them, without Chingiz Mustafayev today. He left us 16 years ago and for ever |
