Abbas-Gulu Aga Bakikhanov (1794-1847)

Bakikhanov wrote on a wide range of subjects. Perhaps most importantly there is his renowned historical work Gulistani-i-Iram ( Paradise Flowerbed), the first historical review of teh Eastern Caucasus from ancient times up to 1813 when he Gulustan peace treaty was signed.

Here he presents a range of evidence including a number of geographic features and objects around Guban and Garabagh. He also wrote on logic, Persian grammar, many books on geography and religion. Moreover, he was well known as a poet and wrote under the penname Gudsi. Apart from history, culture and religion, he wrote much about astronomy and the make-up of teh universe.
